If I couldn’t get into a shelter (which was very difficult), I stayed dirty, I stayed smelly.
Back when I was homeless there were no charities giving out clean clothes or shoes. I desperately wanted a job, was able to work and had senior level experience in a few different fields, but no-one hires dirty, smelly homeless people who haven’t taken their clothes off in more than a few months.
